Why Curation is Essential for Your Content Strategy
By: Coleen Ryan, Account Manager Is content curation a part of your current content marketing strategy? If not, you may be missing out on a powerful tactic that can help you stay ahead of the content curve. Creating enough original content to maintain a fresh and relevant feed is a huge challenge. But curating content is a great way to add some valuable diversity for your audience, build your own content ideas and establish your brand as a thought leader in your industry. Curated Content vs. Aggregated Content Content curation is becoming increasingly common with about one-third of all marketers sharing industry news, blogs or other information resources daily. Some of this daily sharing, however, is more likely to be defined as aggregated content, which isthird-party content thatââ¬â¢s shared without any edits or added comments. Alternatively, curated content involves adding a bit of your own unique editorial flair. You might highlight important points or add your own comments before you share the content. No matter how you choose to editorialize it, curated content can keep your companyââ¬â¢s social media feeds from getting stale and set your brand apart. Why Curate Content? Among most marketers, thought leadership is the biggest draw for content curation. However, there are several other compelling reasons to add this practice to your marketing strategy: It saves resources: When your time and resources are limited, content curation can help keep a steady flow of material coming through your social feeds in addition to helping guide your original content strategy. It can boost your SEO: If you can position yourself as a leading source of information in your industry and get more people going to your page, that can be a big SEO boost. Sharing videos and infographics will help you get the best SEO benefits with one study showing that posts containing videos attract up to 3 times the number of inbound links as text-only posts. Additionally, sharing content may get you some engagement from the original poster. It fills in the gaps: If you want to stay visible and build strong connections with your social networks, itââ¬â¢s important to post frequently.Unless youââ¬â¢re producing several original posts a day, there can be undesirable gaps in your schedule. Curated content helps fill these gaps and keep your visibility high. Best Practices Content curation can be powerful, but it only works if you do it well.Keeping a few best practices in mind will help you get your own curation efforts right: Maintain a healthy balance: Thereââ¬â¢s no definite ratio of curated-to-original content that will work for every brand. To add another layer of complexity, different social channels will have their own optimal frequency. Ideally, you should have as much original content as possible and then fill in the gaps with curated pieces. Post on a consistent basis: There are varying opinions on how often a brand should be posting content, but experts tend to agree that consistency is key.Donââ¬â¢t overwhelm your following with a barrage of content one day and then disappear from the social media landscape for days.Spread out your content over hours and even days (there are plenty of tools to help you schedule posts). Not only will this maintain a steady flow of content to keep your audienceââ¬â¢s attention, but it will also help you catch the eye of users that are online at different times. Be picky: Not all content is worth sharing.Donââ¬â¢t fall into the trap of automatically sharing posts and tweets from specific sources.Take the time to read articles and select only those that are truly relevant and insightful. Be sure to fact-check your curated content as carefully as you would an original piece. Inspire engagement: Curated content can act as a terrific conversation-starter between your brand and its following. When you share content, throw in a comment about why the piece was relevant or interesting, or add an opinion on the item. Many brands like to tack on a question that gets their audience thinking and commenting.Content that provokes discussion is more likely to be shared, which will broaden your exposure and boost your following. Takeaway: While content curation is an effective tool to help establish yourself as a trusted source for information, itââ¬â¢s only one piece of the puzzle. You also need to be creating your own high-quality content to attract more readers and demonstrate your originality ââ¬â nothing can take the place of your own fresh, original content. But content curation can, and should, play a key role in nearly every businessââ¬â¢s marketing mix.

Interview Paper Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Interview Paper - Essay Example She was asked about the degree of knowledge that would be required by an individual who would be venturing into this field and choosing it as a career path. She was also asked what it was that she looked for when hiring new employees. The interview was very effective in getting an idea into the world of real estate. The subject is no doubt a very vastly practiced one, and the services are used by an individual at least once in their life time and yet there are dimensions of this field that are unknown by the common man. The field is very diverse and encompasses a variety of different aspects. Price and value of land will vary regardless of size and shape based on other aspects such as location, commercialization soil quality and other such factors. The market trend keeps changing and is very similar to the stock exchange. Far out locations and various apartment buildings and investments to such housing schemes require a great deal of research n the part of the real estate agent. The displaying and placing of the right priced, with in budget house and/or land with potential buyers is also a very tedious job as all individuals do not belong to the same socio economic statuses. Ms Delores when asked about her assessment of the market trend and potential employees was kind enough to spill the beans.

Police Inhuman Treatment of Female Offenders Essay
Police Inhuman Treatment of Female Offenders - Essay Example She believes her complaint would have been "swept under the carpet" if not for a letter on her behalf from former Supreme Court judge Ted Mullighanââ¬â¢ (news.com.au). The news primarily deals with the complaint of one ââ¬ËLeeââ¬â¢ (name changed) who was picked up by the police when she had failed to attend a court hearing on a minor theft from a shop in the 1990s. It had taken the court proceedings and police more than 13 years to pick her up from the same address where she had been residing since the time she had committed the offense. She was stripped naked by four male police and put in the padded cell for about an hour before letting her join the rest of the jail inmates. As a child, Lee was sexually abused in a foster home and gave evidence to the same in the Mullighan inquiry. She is a mother of three children and for her, this incident ââ¬Ëwas like being raped all over againâ⬠¦I cant put words to what they have done to me, it is just inhumaneââ¬â¢. She had lodged a complaint to the complaints authority in 2006, the verdict of which is still awaited. Judge Mulligan has said that despite her traumatic childhood experience, Lee has largely kept herself out of any trouble and has brought up her children alone. Since her complaint, more people have come out in her support, who themselves had undergone same humiliation in the Christie beach police station. In a letter to Police Commissioner Mal Hyde, obtained by The Advertiser, the Police Complaints Authority says it has "long-standing disquiet" over the practice, which has been labeled "violent and disturbing" by civil libertarians. The complaints authority investigator, Helen Lines has been concerned about the practice that violates the personal dignity of the persons and ââ¬Ëwould focus on the practice of using padded cells to confine distressed prisoners to prevent them from harming themselves with their clothingââ¬â¢. George Mancini of SA. Council of Civil Liberties has also been shocked at the ââ¬Ëhumiliating and violentââ¬â¢ practice and says that the distressed prisoners need to be handled with more sensitivity and care.

High School English Experience Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
High School English Experience - Essay Example Being a member of the Middle East region, I personally have experienced the difficulties the non-English speaking communities undergo predominantly while living in an English speaking country as well as while rendering oneââ¬â¢s services at a multinational organization. Being the citizen of one of the Arab states, I did not have English speaking background altogether; consequently, having least knowledge about this international language was certainly a natural phenomenon. While recalling my school years to my mind, it becomes evident that a large majority of my school-mates had been undergoing the same problem of having almost no knowledge or information about English language. Somehow, it was my elder sister that not only provided me with information about this foreign language, but also laid stress upon learning the same. I had obtained an opportunity of seeking the knowledge of English from my intermediate years. Our dedicated professor at college increased the passion of gett ing acquainted with the basics of English in his students. However, his immediate departure and replacement with a non-serious and demanding instructor lessened my passion for learning English to a great extent, and feelings of not getting able to learn English started haunting my thoughts subsequently. Though the hopes of embarking upon the process of learning English appeared to be losing ground, when I got a job at a multinational company, where speaking in English was the only source of communication partly because of the very reality that the employees at the company belonged to divergent nationalities and regions of the globe working under the same environment. Though English was not the primary language of all co-workers; nonetheless, almost all people could convey their message by speaking some words and phrases of English language. As a result, the idea of having command of the language made its certain place in my mind subsequently in order to make sure headway on the way to making achievements in professional life and career. In the meantime, I proceeded to the USA for higher education, and emphasized upon paying due heed in the learning of language. I had got admission at Ashland University, where the supervision of sincere and devoted teachers during my under graduation years turned out to be extremely supportive in respect of obtaining understanding of the language in a skillful and proficient manner, though I experienced serious challenges on the way to obtaining command over the subject actually. As a result, I developed great taste for English language and literature. Actually in Arabic language, there is no helping verb, and the structure of sentences is quite different one in comparison with English. The concept of definite and indefinite articles i.e. a, an and the, as well as appearance of subject in the beginning of sentences are also quite different ones in my primary language i.e. Arabic. Somehow, developing taste for the great literary giants including Shakespeare, Milton, Pope, Coleridge, Keats, Jane Austen and Emily Bronte etc wide opened new horizons of knowledge before my eyes, and I was determined to elect English 100 as an optional subject in my four year graduate program.Ã

Why is it important for managers to know about motivation theories?
Why is it important for managers to know about motivation theories? Introduction The key function of managers is getting things done through employees. The following assignment looks at the role of motivation and why it is essential for managers to be aware of the various motivational theories and how the motivational theories could be implemented in a professional context to achieve organisations goals and objectives. Motivation has been defined as: the psychological process that gives behaviour purpose and direction (Kreitner, 1995); a predisposition to behave in a purposive manner to achieve specific, unmet needs (Buford, Bedeian, Lindner, 1995); an internal drive to satisfy an unsatisfied need (Higgins, 1994); and the will to achieve (Bedeian, 1993). Organisations exist to achieve corporate objectives and employees working in those organisations aide in achieving those objectives by working towards their individual goals and targets. In an ideal world, if every individual was providing his best performance then organisational goals would be met sooner too; however in the real world it is often not the case. Organisations lag behind and more often than not the reason is a demotivated staff. An understanding of the basic human nature is important for effective employee motivation in the workplace and also for effective management and leadership. In todays business world with rapid changes happening all around, it has become even more important for managers to motivate their staff and help their staff in optimising their performance. Besides, research and observation proves that motivated employees are more creative and productive in the work place. Several theories of motivation have been presented amongst which Maslows theory states the purpose of human existence is Self-actualisation and the only way that state can be attained is when the basic human needs are met. Thus according to Maslow, human needs can be represented in the form of a pyramid. According to Maslow, the basic human needs are: Physiological needs Safety needs Love needs Esteem needs Self-actualisation. Whilst Herzberg theory states that in a work environment context there are mainly two factors which determine the motivation levels of employees. The first set of factors which he termed as the hygiene factors do not lead to positive motivation, however a lack of those hygiene factors could lead to de-motivation. Herzbergs theory is particularly useful as it discussed the importance of providing a good working environment and to a certain degree highlighted the importance of a good working environment in achieving a better performance from employees. Herzbergââ¬â¢s work categorized motivation into two factors: motivators and hygienes (Herzberg, Mausner, Snyderman, 1959). Motivator or intrinsic factors, such as achievement and recognition, produce job satisfaction. Hygiene or extrinsic factors, such as pay and job security, produce job dissatisfaction. McGregors theory stated that staff would contribute more to the organisation if they were treated as responsible and valued employees. Likert (1967) suggested that for an organisation to perform better, managers must adopt a participative-group system, whereby, leadership is by the superiors who have complete confidence in their employees and motivation takes the form of economic rewards which is further based on goals set by participation. Various other theories presented by Vroom, equity theory etc all discuss how employees can be motivated and should be motivated to enhance performance. As stated above individual performance taken collectively determines organisational performance and when organisational performance is not up to the required level, the organisation would not be able to sustain itself and might loose out in competition. Motivation theories provide an insight into what makes an employee perform better. It provides managers with a tool to motivate employees and helps them in understanding how the staff can be managed better. It is therefore no surprise that the area of human resource management and organisational behaviour is looking into how important it has become for organisations to focus on retaining employees. Recent literature has emphasised the importance of knowledge management. It is a known fact that high labour turnover, costs the company which results in lowering the level of profits. Profit maximisation is the ultimate corporate objective, it would be fair to say that is the sole reason why companies exist to maximise profit, generate revenue and anything that can result in increasing profit levels will be looked upon favourably. Lack of knowledge about motivation theories might lead the managers to believe that monetary incentives are the only way of motivating staff, however, the theories has helped the managers in understanding that individuals have different needs. It might be that employee A prefers to have more responsibility as compared to employee B. Hence increasing As responsibility and appreciating A motivates him more than B who would be satisfied with getting a monetary incentive. Similarly, employee C might be a single mother who would prefer to have more flexibility in the job and would be able to perform better if the work that she is doing enables her to look after her child and work. The above examples prove that in a professional environment for a manager it has become even more important to understand the needs of his internal customers. A concept which can be borrowed from marketing is if the customers needs are met the organisations objectives can be achieved. The argument can be extended in this context as well where it can be said that when internal customers are kept happy, external customers will automatically be happy. The above is an example to explain Vrooms theory, according to which rewards and incentives should be based on what the employee perceives to be important rather than what the managers perceives to be important. Thus he aimed to explain employee motivation by explaining the link between how individual goals influence individual performance. Thus the knowledge of motivational theories provides a deeper insight into the psychology of employees and staff. The importance of organisational performance cannot be highlighted enough. Research and surveys are being conducted to understand what can improve the organisational performance and the obvious link is individual performance. Performance more generally is defined as a function of ability and motivation. However, in order to motivate staff it is important to have an effective performance management system. In order to provide rewards to the staff it is imperative to have appropriate benchmarks to measure the performance. Literature in this area has highlighted the importance of having formal appraisal systems which can either be in the form of self-evaluation or 360 degree appraisal, top-down, bottom up etc. The above mechanism enables managers to scientifically assess and then provide appropriate rewards and incentives to the staff, whether monetary or non-monetary in nature. In addition to the performance levels, retaining staff by continuously striving to motivate them helps managers to retain knowledge which the employees have acquired over the period, it helps the employees to complete tasks faster as they are already aware of how things are done around here and more importantly it helps the systems to be developed so that work can be done quickly. It helps in achieving specialisation and employees acquiring key skills. Thus the main tools a manager must have to motivate his/her staff are: Approval, praise and recognition Trust, respect and high expectations Loyalty Removing organisational barriers which might stand in the way individual performance Job enrichment Providing Financial incentives Good communication. Even though there is not a perfect formula for motivation in the workplace however, an understanding of how the human nature works can help managers to perform better and keeping the end goal (corporate objective) in mind the challenge for every leader and manager to reach a balance where organisational and individual performance can be maximised to reach the same goal. Conclusion From the preceding paragraphs it can be concluded that it is imperative for managers to have a thorough understanding of the motivation theories. However, it is easier said than done. There is no simple answer of how to motivate people, though an understanding of the theories does help. It enables the managers in enhancing not only the individual but also the organisational performance. The primary objective of organisations is to survive, sustain and grow and the objective can be met when the employees and staff are happy. This can be achieved by understanding the motivation theories and implementing them effectively to achieve optimal results for the organisation. Thus it can be said that effective implementation of the motivation theories can help the organisations to have a competitive edge and it can serve to be a source of sustainable competitive advantage which would ensure its growth, survival and maximised revenue generation in the long run. Thus, it can be concluded for managers to perform efficiently it is imperative for them to have knowledge of the motivation theories. Eastern Airlines Facing Bankruptcy :: essays research papers
Eastern Airlines Facing Bankruptcy In 1986, Eastern Airlines was in desparate trouble. The fourth quarter of 1985 had shown a $67.4 million loss, and financially experts had told Frank Borman, president and chief executive officer, that the airline had three choices: 1) a 20 percent pay cut for all union and noncontract employees. 2) Filing for Chapter 11 (bankruptcy) or 3) Selling the airline. On February 23, 1986, Eastern's board of directors met to decide the fate of the company. Frank Borman, quickly left his home in Coral Gables to Building 16 at Miami International Airport that Sunday evening, to discuss plans on saving the airlines. The board of directors had recessed for dinner following afternoon session and was scheduled to convene at 7:30 p.m. At the earlier meeting, Wayne Yeoman, senior vice president for finance, had spent most of the time outlining the details of Texas Air's offer to buy Eastern. Frank Lorenzo and Frank Borman had been talking since December originally about consolidating the computerized reservation systems, then , as Eastern's problems deepen, about a possible sale. As Frank entered his office, he found his his loyal excutive assistant; Wayne Yeoman; and Dick Magurno, Eastern's senior vice president for legal affairs. For about 20 minutes the three discussed the fourthcoming meeting and the prospects for saving the airline. Negotiations were going to come around for ALPA and TWU but no break from the IAM. The IAM would not budge since Charlie Byran, head of the machinist's union, stood firm against a 20 percent wage cut. At 7:30 the board meeting began with the discussion of the Texas Air offer, concentrating on some of the conditions attached to the buying of the company. More talk and hours dragged on. Finally word got out that ALPA was nearing an agreement. The meeting recessed for an hour. During the recess Frank needed to get Charlie's surport on the 20 percent pay cut, otherwise the company was going to sold. He told Charlie to come up to his office. Frank told Charlie, " we've been at this since 83' and you have to recognize it can't go on. I have every reason to believe that the pilots and flight attendants are going to give us what we need. I know it's more difficult for you because your contract is not open. But I know you have a sense of history. We have a very good opportunity to cure this airline, and if you just understand this, in the long run you'll come out a stronger, more admirable person. My Puppy Love
Daisy and Johann were together in one renowned university in Malaysia called University of Science Malaysia.à They were both in their second year college when Johann first met Daisy at the University's Registrar's office during an interview for a scholarship.à Her silent and evading ways caught the attention of the young man.à He tried coming near her to start a conversation, but no amount of effort gave him a chance to get acquainted with her that day.à A week after, he read in the Bulletin Board that Daisy topped the scholarship, and found a valid reason to congratulate her. Waiting for her in the hallway, he grabbed every opportunity to greet her, ââ¬Å"Congratulations Daisy, I saw your name on the Bulletin Boardâ⬠¦.â⬠à He was never allowed to finish his greetings for immediately Daisy rushed into her Chemistry class. Nodding his head sideways, he tried to squeeze himself in the crowd just to get near to Daisy for the second time in their encounter. ââ¬Å"Hello! Have I done wrong?â⬠inquired Johann. Daisy looked at him with a straight and sharp look and said ââ¬Å"We don't even know each other!â⬠ââ¬Å"I understand, I am Johann, and I'm interested to be your friend,â⬠he said stretching his arm to shake hands with Daisy. But sheà refused to meet it and instead she said, ââ¬Å"Okay, I hope only until then! Bye.â⬠Daisy hated him so much ever since the first day they met in the registrar's office, she already noticed his being forward.à But at the same time, she couldn't understand what she was feeling inside her.à He preoccupied her thoughts most of the time and whenever it happened it excited a lot. Whatââ¬â¢s more, she loved see him from a distant every time classes would end.à These thrilling feelings were so disturbing and caused some sleepless nights.à She hoped such feelings would end, so that she could concentrate in her studies and do more to excel. It was late in the afternoon the following day when Daisy noticed somebody following her. She sped up and hurried on her way until at the corner of the building there was no more way of escape.à ââ¬Å"Why such a rush?â⬠said the man she hated most but at the same time the one who brings color to her life these last few days. ââ¬Å"Nothing, ah,â⬠¦I stillà have to do some research in the library,â⬠Daisy formally replied. ââ¬Å"Library?! It has been closed since four this afternoon, hah!?!â⬠à Johann said sarcastically. ââ¬Å"And for what reason are you following me? You annoy me so much, and I hate it!â⬠she said nervously, being scared also to lose him that very moment. ââ¬Å"I'm sorry; I know I have been trying to get your attention.à Can I walk with you home?â⬠ââ¬Å"What for, I can manage.â⬠ââ¬Å"Yes, of course you can, but you see I was just trying to be a friend.â⬠à Daisy didnââ¬â¢t know how to react in such a situation and tried everyà reason to again evade his company. Having known of her ways, Johann quickly engaged into a conversation hoping to get her this time.à To his dismay Daisy made her way of escape for the third time. Exhausted when she arrived the dorm, she was sulking and crying.à She hated herself.à She knew she like him, but at the same time she was scared andà just didnââ¬â¢t know what to do and how to act when he was around. The sun began to set when the phone rang.à ââ¬Å"Hello!à à Daisy, it's me Johann, let me get things straight,à I found myself in love with you when I first met you. Thatââ¬â¢s the reason why I become a shadow to you.à I know I irritate you, but please can we just talk so that I may have time to explain?â⬠Daisyà found herself nervous, and speechless.à ââ¬Å"Daisy, are you still there? Okay, can we meet tomorrow? Please, I'll meet you in the hallway after your Chemistry class, and then we'll go somewhere else to talkâ⬠. This time Johann made sure he will be the one to hang-up the phone first, and said ââ¬Å"Good-bye, see youâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ The night seemed very long, but how she wished it will be longer so that she could meet with Johann.à But no matter what she did, she had to be in her Chemistry class, and Johann was just on time as he promised. This time she decided to meet with him and hope to end everything despite her feelings.à The next time she realized she's already with Johann in the park, and as they exchanged ideas and got to know each other found themselves in a mutual understanding that they were already as boy-girl who are in an exclusive intimate relationship. Since then, Johann would always be around to fetch her from her Chemistry class, and they would always end up working on their assignments together or study each of their lessons hurriedly to be able to still have time discussing their personal lives.à This had been for two to three months, and how they treasured their time together, until one day Daisy opened a long been buried mail in her internet.à It was the news of her scholarship in Oxford some three months from now. When Johann came to her life, she forgot her application for a scholarship and having passed it, she is now called for a decision.à It is either her future career or staying in Malaysia with Johann.à She tried a lot to postpone thinking about it, but she was overtaken by the news in the University announcing her scholarship in Oxford.à Soon after the breaking of the news, Johann did not wait after the Chemistry class would end.à Before it started he was already outside the classroom waiting for her. ââ¬Å"I'm sure it was trueâ⬠¦Are you going? ACT Hand Scoring Should You Order It
ACT Hand Scoring Should You Order It SAT / ACT Prep Online Guides and Tips Did your ACT scores seem way out of whack? Enough that you think there was an error in the scoring process? Itââ¬â¢s possible to get your test rescored manually for a fee. Read on to find out why you might decide to use ACT Score Verification (also known as ACT Hand Scoring) and how you can order it. What Is Hand Scoring? The multiple choice sections on the ACT are scored with scantron machines, which is why there's so much emphasis on filling in the answer sheet accurately with dark marks.Machines may interpret a stray mark as an answer or penalize you because you accidentally skipped a question and bubbled in a string of answers in the wrong spots. If you order score verification, your test will be reviewed again by a human being to see if there was a problem in the original scoring process or if you made an obvious bubbling error that would be apparent to a human grader but not a scantron. ACT score verification is available for both the multiple choice and essay sections of the test (if you did ACT Writing).Itââ¬â¢s a $50 fee for the multiple-choice section, $40 for the essay section, or $90 for both.If you're at all familiar withSAT Hand Score Verificationor have ordered it before, you should know thatACT Score Verification differs in one important way.For SAT Hand Scoring, there's the risk tha t your score will go down if mistakes in scoring are found that arenââ¬â¢t in your favor. For the ACT, your score will either stay the same or go up- ordering hand scoring canââ¬â¢t hurt your score, it can only hurt your wallet. If the ACT does find a scoring mistake that works in your favor, your scores will be changed and the fee will be refunded. Special note: In past years, ordering ACT essay score verification meant that your essay was reread and rescored (if your score was higher; otherwise, your score stayed the same). Now, however, getting score verification for your ACT essay only gets you confirmation your essay was scored by two independent graders (or by a third grader if the two scores differed by more than a point in any domain) and that your essay was scanned correctly. When Should You Use Score Verification? Here are a couple of scenarios where you might consider Hand Scoring as a score verification method: Scenario 1: Your Overall Score Was Very Different from What You Expected How different is ââ¬Å"very differentâ⬠?If you get a score on one or more of your ACT sections that is five or more points lower than the score you consistently earned in practice sessions, you might consider hand scoring. With this much of a discrepancy, itââ¬â¢s likely that something weird happened in the scoring process or you did something on the answer sheet that caused your answers to be read inaccurately. Scenario 2: You Missed Many ââ¬Å"Easyâ⬠Questions That You Would Normally Get Right If you look at your score report and notice that you got a bunch of questions wrong in subjects that you usually ace, you might start to question your scores. However, you should consider ordering the Test Information Release, described in my next point, to verify the difficulty level of the questions you missed before jumping to any conclusions. Scenario 3: Youââ¬â¢ve Investigated Other Score Verification Options The ACT Test Information Releaseprovides a more comprehensive view of the test. It includes all the questions, a list of your answers, the answer key, scoring instructions, and the writing prompt and scoring rubric along with your scores (if you took the ACT with Writing). You can order the Test Information Release for $20 (per test date). This will either clear up confusion about your scores or verify that something went wrong and you need to order ACT Score Verification (hand scoring). When Should You NOT Use Hand Scoring? You shouldn't jump right to hand scoring if your score is only a little lower than you expected it to be. Say you get your scores back and you did about four points worse than you expected on one or more sections. Do you order hand scoring?I would say thatââ¬â¢s the tipping point. A discrepancy between expectations and reality of four points or less is probably not significant enough to indicate an error in scoring. If you're still concerned, you should go ahead and order the Test Information Release so you can understand your scores better.Try not to jump right to blaming the test if you score a couple points lower than you expected- itââ¬â¢s not going to help you learn from your mistakes! The best place to learn is on top of a pile of past mistakes. How to Request Hand Scoring To have your test hand scored, just fill out this form and mail it to the ACT within 12 months of your test date.Include your name (the original one that you wrote on the test), address, and date of birth along withthe ACT ID, testing location, and test date from your original score report. You should also include a check made out to ACT Student Services with the applicable fees for whichever part of the test you want hand scored.Remember, multiple choice is $50, essay is $40, and itââ¬â¢s $90 for both. Mail everything to this address: ACT Student ServicesP.O. Box 414Iowa City, IA 52243-0414 You can also request to be in the room for the hand scoring process for your multiple choice questions (but without access to the test questions) at a location designated by the ACT. If you would like to do this you should mail this request in writing along with everything else, although I would say that unless you are super paranoid about them messing up the scoring again you probably donââ¬â¢t want to bother with it. The ACT says that additional fees apply, but the information they give about it is very vague- you may want to call them to find out more details before you decide to put in a request. The number for ACT Customer Service is 319-337-1270. After you mail your score verification request, you should get a letter back from the ACT in three to five weeks. It will tell you whether your original scores were confirmed or changed due to an error in the original scoring process. If they were changed, you and all your designated colleges will get new score reports free of charge. What's Next? Are you wondering whether you should take the ACT again? Cannibal Tours essays
Cannibal Tours essays The anthropology film, Cannibal Tours, portrays how the civilized and primitive people tried to understand each others culture. The film shows two different perspectives, one from the tourists, and the other one from the natives. The group of European tourists were interested in seeing how the primitive lived. They brought with them cameras and camcorders to take pictures of the natives. On the other hand, the natives did not know where the tourists cam from, but assumed that the tourists lived in a village just like them. In addition, the natives were confused to why the tourist took pictures of them. The native old man described that during the colonial time the Germans came to the village, and disrupted the natives way of life by trying to civilized the natives. In addition to civilizing the natives, the German missionaries destroyed the spirit house, and tried to spread their religion to the tribal people. The native old man explained that they made money by selling their crafts to the tourists, but the tourist hardly bought anything from them. In addition to selling their crafts, the natives received money from the tourists, by allowing the tourists to take picture of them. Also, the natives charged the tourists two dollars to take pictures inside the destroyed spirit house. At the end of the movie, it seemed that both the civilized and primitive remain confused with each others culture. I think the film, Cannibal Tours, shows how disrespectful the tourists were to the natives, and how ignorant the tourists were to the natives culture. The tourists wanted to help the primitives with their economic situation, yet they asked for a cheaper price on the craving. The natives believed that the price they asked should be paid, and not bargained. Thus due to the haggling, the natives were pissed off at the tourists, because by asking for a cheaper price on the craving, it would be hard for the natives to make e...

WK Secondary Data Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words
WK Secondary Data - Essay Example It facilitates in making primary data more specific as gaps and deficiencies within primary data are taken care of through already available secondary data. As an example, secondary data assists in the comprehension of a problem and also provides a basis for comparison of the data that has in essence been collected for the purpose of research (Kiel, 1984). On the other hand, secondary data also has its fair share of disadvantages. Secondary data might not fit within different frameworks and hence the customized feel that primary data can offer seems missing at times. Thus the marketing research been done under such concerns comes out to be improper and inadequately drawn. At times, the accuracy and genuineness of secondary data might not be authenticated and thus there is a great amount of concern with regards to the market researchers under this facet (Ghauri, 2005). Lastly, as an example, secondary data might be outdated for researches done in the past, which is quite a significant issue when one understands how secondary data can fail within certain research

Technology Studies Case Study - Essay Example It is no surprise that moisture is one of the main dilemma of the hotel maintenance department because UK copes up with something like 25,000 gallon of water annually. Nearly all moisture problems are much less severe than they actually look. Moisture can be very dangerous to our health. It can intensify respiratory problems and it can even encourage mites and moulds to grow. The properties of moisture can be very serious and even makes the whole surrounding cold and unpleasant to see. Moisture can be anywhere. They could be on the roof, on the walls, on the floors, windows, doors and pipeline. Consequently, rising moisture can be detected easily. We can conclude that there is rising moisture in the area if, the wall is in contact with the ground, if the walls feel dampy and cold to touch and if there are stains on wall decorations. Penetrating moisture is very Not easy to find and may require proficient help. There are many ways of treating moisture. Rising moisture is worse at the bottom of a wall than at the top. Aside from blocked airbricks, the most frequent cause is 'bridging", this is when soil from the garden climbs up directly on the house wall and trap moisture. This problem is frequent and it can be easily worked out. Excavate the soil from the house so that the soil can no longer knock against the wall. A technique used in old properties is the inoculation of chemical in the problem areas. If the moisture is getting higher through the floorboard, a moisture-proof membrane maybe frayed so it is best to have a refitting. Penetrating moisture More often than not forms when water get into the property. Check up in details grooves, downpipes, flashings and window frames. It will be best to check everything inside and around the property area. Check the sealing of window frames to make sure that there must be a drip groove to get rid of rainwater. If there are blocks, clear them comprehensively. An ill-fitted roofing on a flat roof will probably cause moisture and a fractured wall can let water in. Repair a fractured wall with protective material and fit insulation rubber to all door frames. Application of Outdoor water proofing fluid will be helpful if the outdoor brickwork is already absorbent. A moisture proof track is also one means of avoiding increasing moisture. This is a process where in two layers of bricks with a space between can avoid moisture. This is frequent
